The foreward to the Betty Crocker Picture Cook Book of 1950 mentions this book as its predecessor. My mother and I believe my grandma had and used this cookbook, and remember its brown cover. Thanks to
archive.com, I'm able to read its actual contents. It's a hoot to see recipes that start out with killing a turtle or chicken before cooking it! But the many of recipes for breads and salads etc. are still viable today, and I've been actually using some!
